Hey folks!
Long time mo see!
Hope you are all well!
This post is about a colour trend that's so popular right now and that is Ombre/Dip Dye. It was huge last summer with hues of pastels, lilacs, blues, icy whites etc. But now this colour has been more commercialised into D.I.Y kits.
I recently thought to myself my hair colour has pretty much never been different, except that one time where it was pillar box red, but we won't look back on those times..
My colleague at work dyed her hair using one of these kits and on a whim i went to purchase one. If i don;t do things spontaneously, i never will do it.
The kit i used was by Loreal.
Don't be put off because there's no guy on the front. Just choose the right shade for you and you're good to go!
What these kits offer is a chance to have a new change that isn't too out of the box to make a statement, But still looks bold. My hair without any product in is quite light so i chose a blonde colour because it will blend in better and grow out nicer but don't be put off if you have darker hair.
The effect you want is about the timing of the dye you leave in your hair. You can go for a subtle effect or a much richer colour! I wanted something edgy.
The kit contains a brush for creating the gradient effect with the dye.
A lightener, colour and bleach
You combine all 3 then apply the product onto the brush but don't go from your roots. I went about an inch up from mine.Your hair must be dry on application.
I miscalculated the dye near the back of my head, so i put too much back there but it's fine.
The initial time guidance is 20-45 mins. 20 for the more subtle effect etc. I washed mine out after 25 minutes but i didn't notice much of a chance, it looked slightly rusty so i applied more dye and left it on for another 15. I made sure not to go over the time as you hair can become damaged. More so than it already is. My hair is really healthy so i could allow myself two treatments.
so around the 35 minute mark it looked a lot lighter.
At this point I'm like oh crap that's bright enough for me! so rinse it out with around half of the special shampoo they provide. I do notice that my hair isn't feeling too good so i brought myself some intensive repair conditioner treatments and I've been using them since and my hair now feels healthy again! so do invest in those. Aussie, John Frieda, Spa Sanctuary all do great ones! They retail around £1-£2 each.
Once rinsed out and dried it looked like this.
MUCH brighter than i wanted but when it was cut and styled it looked great!
Style it messy for best results!
You can see how the roots are still darker.
I think this trend will be quite popular for men, but who knows? If you want to make a change and think you can pull it off, do it! Remember, colour fades, hair grows. If you don't like it then it will grow out in no time, especially for men as our hair grows fast!
I hope you enjoyed this post!
Cya soon!
